The 1st Annual Golden Tarp Award, a Humboldt light dep competition!

Cultivators can enter strains into one of four categories: Floral, Fuel, Earth and Fruity. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, August 21st, and will be tested through Pure Anylytics. The four strains in each category with the highest total cannabinoids will move on to the next round and be judged the day of the event.

Drop off locations are Wonderland Nursery in Garberville, Collective Conscious Apothecary in Hopland, and the Humboldt California Association in Arcata. The cost to enter is $100 which includes lab testing from Pure Analytics, one entry pass, one VIP pass, and a T-shirt.

The Golden Tarp Award is more than just appreciating Humboldt's finest cannabis. The celebration includes Fire Dancers, DJs, acoustic music, and entertainers of all sorts. There will be speaker presentations throughout the day along with classes and interactive workshops presented by 707 Cannabis College. The classes will be open to all event attendees and the workshops will require a valid 215 recommendation to participate.

10th Annual Humboldt Hoedown Brings Bluegrass & Beyond To Mateel September 27!

Returning to the Mateel Community Center in Redway, CA, on Saturday, September 27th to celebrate 10 years of country fun, the Humboldt Hoedown will once again serve up a heaping helping of its signature Bluegrass & Beyond. 

In honor of this milestone occasion, the 2014 event will feature a custom blend of old time festival favorites like Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, John Reischman & The Jaybirds, The Pine Box Boys, Blackberry Bushes String Band, and Hicktown Homeboys alongside festival debuts by Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit and Miss Lonely Hearts, plus top local pickers including Absynth Quintet, Rooster McClintock, No Good Redwood Ramblers, Kingfoot, and Jefferson Parson- with more to be announced.

The 10th annual Humboldt Hoedown will also feature a slew of vendors, a lively kid corral, copious jamming opportunities, delicious BBQ, backwoods betting games, and a grand old time.  Doors open at high noon with music til midnight.

The king of “Hellbilly”, Hank 3, will be back at the Mateel on Tuesday & Wednesday, September 30th and October 1st, 2014 for back to back nights of his legendary performances..

The grandson of country music legend Hank Williams and the son of Hank Williams Junior, Hank 3 is one of the most prominent musicians to play neotraditional country in a country music market dominated by pop country.

His shows are legendary for their intensity and length, and this show is planned to be both energetic and ecclectic.

J. Boog is a man of many influences. The singer of Samoan descent was born in Long Beach and raised in Compton, California. Growing up in the rough streets of Compton, the strong sense of tradition and culture that J Boog absorbed from his family was instrumental in his path to stay off the streets and begin a successful music career.
