Black & Red Ball
George Clinton & P-Funk
Headlined this years Black and Red Ball.

Revived for a special New Year’s Eve concert in 2005, the Black & Red Ball is a unique southern Humboldt tradition that sees attendees dress in their finest, most outrageous black and red attire for a stylish evening at the community center. First presented by the Mateel in December of 1988 to celebrate the opening of the community center in its’ current Redway location, over the years, the Black & Red Ball has become synonymous as the community center’s annual birthday bash. Although it has only been presented sporadically in recent years, all of us at the Mateel felt the event was ripe for a comeback and we are proud that the beloved Black & Red Ball will again become an annual MCC tradition.
