About the Board of Directors

The Mateel Community Center is a 501 © 3 nonprofit organization. The overall mission and vision is articulated, developed, and monitored by the nine-seat Board of Directors. The Board of Directors, in turn, hires the Executive Director to implement the strategic mission, vision, and objective goals of the organization as set by the Board of Directors, including the daily operations of the Mateel Community Center.

Board terms are three years. Nominations for the board are taken at the annual membership, meeting held in the fall. Nominees must have been a member of the Mateel since the prior annual meeting to be nominated. Each board member is requested to serve on, or chair, three committees. Executive positions for the board are: President of the Board, Vice President of the Board, and Treasurer. Additionally, the board appoints a secretary to take care of the routine tasks of recording board minutes, motions, and other correspondence.

The Board of Directors meets eleven times a year, January through November, on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm. Meetings are generally held at the Mateel Community Center.
