Rootz UndergroundRootz Underground

One of the most exciting young reggae bands to emerge from Jamaica in recent years, the “revolution reggae music” of Rootz Underground is edgy, raw, and natural.  They burn the rules and mash down the limitations of a single genre to channel the musical vibration that rings true in the heart and soul of all conscious rebel rockers, late night revelers, and soul seekers.

Their richly textured sound, full of careful layers, serves as a comfortable bed for some of the most universal and honest lyrics to rest in a reggae mix. They also feature a serious rock sensibility with breakdowns, hard-hitting grooves, intense builds, and smooth transitions back to the one-drop reggae rhythm.

Their three acclaimed albums, Movement (2008), Gravity (2009), and Alive, which was recorded live on the 2009 Reggae Train Tour, have led to a slew of top name festival performances around the globe where they’ve developed a reputation for one of the most captivating live shows out there. The six core members of Rootz Underground are Stephen Newland (lead vocals), Jeffrey Moss-Solomon (rhythm guitar), Colin Young (bass), Leon Campbell (drums), Paul Smith (keyboards), and Charles Lazarus (lead guitar), and within the last decade they’ve blossomed from a favorite Jamaican club act to one of the most respected names in reggae music.

Top Shelf

Top ShelfIn a state of grey, where often the surrounding world can seem harsh and grim, a force has emerged from the depths of light, sound and human creativity to breathe life and hope back into the masses. This force has come to be known as Top Shelf and these days Top Shelf seems rather unstoppable. The group is on a mission to create a sound to wake the sleeping, raise the consciousness of life and put color back into the lives of those who have forgotten where to look. How can Top Shelf accomplish this you ask? By using sound and truth to remind people of what and who they really are.

Over the past ten years four elements have transformed and merged together to create one band that will change the face of Rock/Reggae music forever. These elements are: Carter Lane (Lead Vocalist), Chad Goodin (Bass), Drew Nicoll (Drums), and Korey Ross (Lead Guitar)

The subsequent sound that emerges combines heavy rock beats and roots reggae rhythms, to create a primal expression of the soul that hits your chest like a ton of bricks. Known for high energy live performances and leaving fans with something special, Top Shelf lays it all on the table every time they play. Each show is a unique experience of crowd participation and one of a kind musical solos. Top Shelf continues to inspire with every set they play and the fact remains that these boys are on a mission to relieve the stress and pain that comes with the distractions and loss of focus we all suffer while on life’s journey.

So sit back, relax and let Top Shelf take you to a place you always hoped was real, but never knew existed. The place inside all of us, that is full of color and promise, a place where, “Just what you got is just what ya need”. The only way to get there is to let go, open up and listen… THE SOUND of Top Shelf will do the rest.
